COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
For October 8, 2019
I. CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Jim Carlson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners present were Carlson, Dave Krell and Tom Pottratz. Kynda Browning, Secretary and EMS Director, Cindy Carlson was also in attendance.
II. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Dave Krell made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 12, 2019, meeting as presented. Tom Pottratz seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
III. PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, APPLICATIONS, APPEALS, COMMUNICATIONS, ETC: There were none.
IV. COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE: There was none.
V. REPORTS FROM STAFF: Cindy Carlson said she will be resigning her position as the EMT director when we find someone to take her position.
Don Evans reported for Josh Evans:
Our furnace went out in the fire station, so Don Evans called Banner Fuel to repair the furnace.
Rescue 12-2 – the ground pin was broken, so he ordered a new plug-in for the truck and had other repairs done at Bills Service.
They got old airpacks from FD 2, and did training with them. They talked about more masks for the airpacks. They need to get everyone up to speed on the new airpacks.
Don Evans said we need to work on getting into a new station at some point. There was discussion.
Jim Carlson talked about purchasing a Leatherman tool for the firemen at the end of the year.
VI. OLD BUSINESS:
A. PORTABLE GAS TANK: Since there has been no interest, we will store the portable gas tank for the winter.
VII. NEW BUSINESS:
A. 2020 PRELIMINARY BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING: Jim Carlson opened the 2020 preliminary budget public hearing. The commissioners asked questions about the budget. There was discussion about purchasing tablets for the trucks. Cindy Carlson will check with AMR on how they use them. Jim Carlson closed the public hearing.
B. 2020 TAX LEVY RATE PUBLIC HEARING: Jim Carlson opened the public hearing. There was discussion. Dave Krell made a motion to raise the tax levy rate 1% for 2020. Jim Carlson voted yes and Tom Pottratz voted no.
VIII. PRESENTATION OF VOUCHERS, WARRANTS, FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND REPORTS: Dave Krell made a motion to pay payroll vouchers 22320 to 22324 for $789.40 and vouchers 22325 to 22329 for $1,998.46. Tom Pottratz seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
IX. COMMENTS FROM AUDIENCE: There were none.
X. ADJOURNMENT: Dave Krell made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:35 p.m. Jim Carlson seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
